The Stone Roses new single May 2016There’s been rumours of new Stone Roses material all week, but now it’s official – a new single will be released tonight (Thursday 12 May) at 8pm.

The new single will be the first new music from the Manchester legends in over 20 years, and comes ahead of their sell-out shows at the Etihad Stadium next month and summer festival appearances.

News of a possible announcement began when images of lemons appeared in Manchester earlier this week, in echoes of their previous campaign ahead of their reunion shows:

Fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that new material from the band was coming soon – and today they have been proved right, as The Stone Roses confirmed on Twitter that a new single will be released tonight at 8pm:

There’s no official word on exactly how the single will be ‘released’ – although there are strong rumours that it will get its debut on Annie Mac’s Radio 1 show tonight. Regardless of where it gets it’s first airing, you can guarantee it will be EVERYWHERE across the web and social media as soon as it surfaces so finding it won’t be difficult.

The Stone Roses have a busy summer ahead of them, with a headline slot at T In The Park confirmed along with a string of their own headline shows at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, Madison Square Garden in New York and Marlay Park in Dublin.

Here’s their dates in full:

Wednesday 15 June – Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Friday 17 June – Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Saturday 18 June – Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Sunday 19 June – Etihad Stadium, Manchester
Thursday 30 June – Madison Square Garden, New York
