The Stone RosesWith just over a month to go until their huge four night residency at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium, there is some worrying news coming out of the Stone Roses camp.

The Madchester legends have reportedly been forced to cancel two gigs in Tokyo, Japan that were scheduled for the 2 and 3 June because drummer Reni has broken his ribs following an accidental fall.

The band were due to play the Nippon Budokan venue before heading back to the UK for their highly anticipated gigs at the Etihad as well as headlining T In The Park. They are also scheduled to headline Madison Square Garden in New York and Marlay Park in Dublin this summer.

The news was revealed by the promoter of the Nippon Budokan gigs, who posted on their website: “The Stone Roses are very sorry to have to cancel their two proposed concerts at the Budokan. Reni has had an accidental fall and fractured two ribs, his doctor has told him to rest for at least a month. Unfortunately this means that the band are unable to fulfil their planned performances in Japan”

There has been no official confirmation from the band yet, but the Tokyo gigs have been removed from the schedule of live dates on their official website.

It’s likely that The Stone Roses are holding fire on making any announcements before the extent of Reni’s injuries are known. So all we can do now is cross our fingers and wish Reni a speedy recovery.
