When is the new Radiohead album out?

Radiohead Thom Yorke in Daydreaming video

Radiohead fans have been whipped into a bit of a frenzy over the past week or so, as the band have carried out an elaborate ‘anti-marketing’ campaign for their highly anticipated new album.

First, their official website as well as social media channels went blank. Then they teased the new track Burn The Witch with a snippet of the video.

The full video for Burn The Witch was eventually revealed on 1 May – the day many fans expected the new album to be released.

That day came and went with no new Radiohead album, so fans began to speculate that maybe today (Friday 6 May) would finally be the day the new album was released.

Not quite.

Radiohead have today confirmed that their new album – which will be their ninth studio album – will be released ‘digitally’ this Sunday (8 May) at 7pm. The as-yet-untitled album will get a full physical release on 17 June.

As well as the announcement, Radiohead have also revealed another new song from the album called Daydreaming. Watch the Paul Thomas Anderson directed video below:

So although the whole ‘LP9’ thing is starting to take shape, there’s still quite a few important facts left hanging by Radiohead. Like, what the album will actually be called. And exactly how they will release it digitally – via streaming sites like Spotify, iTunes or Tidal, or using their own delivery method as they did with In Rainbows.

Typically for the enigmatic Radiohead, the more we see the less we know.

Roll on Sunday!
