Bristol legends Massive Attack have announced they will headline a huge outdoor gig in their hometown later this year.
The band will perform at Bristol Downs on 3 September in front of an audience in the tens of thousands.
The open-air gig will be the first time Massive Attack have played in Bristol since 2004, and will be the first gig at Bristol Downs for 15 years.
The gig will be an all-day affair, with Primal Scream and Skepta also performing – more announcements regarding support acts are expected soon.
In a press release announcing the gig, Massive Attack’s Robert Del Naja said they hoped the gig at Bristol Downs will become an annual affair:
“We are curating what we hope will become an annual event something made in Bristol with an international reach. We will also use the project to engage with the important social and political issues of the day.”
Tickets for Massive Attack at Bristol Downs go on sale this Friday 20 May at 9am.
Elsewhere, Massive Attack will also headline one of the days at this years British Summer Time series of gigs in Hyde Park.
