Next year is shaping up to be a big one for Radiohead fans.

Thanks to various scraps of information we know they’ve been in the studio working on a new album, and now we have some actual concrete information straight from the mouth of guitarist Johnny Greenwood.

Greenwood is performing in Russia tonight, and was interviewed by local radio station Silver Radio ahead of his show. During the interview he was asked about the progress of the new album, and he replied:

We have finished recording of the new album but we keep reevaluating the work we’ve done. We hope we’ll get it right soon, and after that we’ll start planning the next year’s tour.

So in one quick quote we get confirmation that the album is almost finished, and Radiohead are aiming to go on tour next year.

The news, which was first reported by fans on Reddit, was quickly seized on by the music press – which led Jonny to take to Twitter to clarify his comments:

So although Greenwood has reined in his comments a bit, it still sounds like very promising news for Radiohead fans – who likely have a new album, a tour and lots of festival appearances to look forward to next year.
