Manchester legends James have been confirmed for Glastonbury 2016, and will take the coveted spot at 11am on Friday on The Other Stage.
That time slot has become famous over recent years as the official ‘opening’ of the festival.
James frontman Tim Booth broke the news earlier today during an interview on BBC Radio 5 Live, saying: “We’re going to cut the ribbon and smash the champagne on the ship.”
James join previously announced Glastonbury headliners Adele, Muse and Coldplay on this year’s lineup, as well as PJ Harvey and Jeff Lynne’s ELO – who will be playing the ‘legends’ slot on the Pyramid Stage on Sunday afternoon.
Glastonbury Festival runs from 22-25 June 2016 at Worthy Farm in Somerset.
Tickets for the event are sold out, although there will be a ticket resale to coincide with the announcement of the full lineup – which is due sometime in the next few weeks.
In other James news, the groups 14th studio album Girl At The End Of The World is on course to knock Adele’s 25 off the top spot in the UK album chart- fingers crossed guys!
