Adele confirms she will headline Glastonbury 2016

The headliners for this years Glastonbury Festival are now complete, after Adele confirmed she will headline the Saturday night of the Worthy Farm festival.

Adele announced the news live from the stage during her sell-out gig at the O2 Academy, telling fans: “I wanted to do it last year but my record wasn’t ready. And to the people who say I am too boring to headline, you’re more fucking boring for moaning about me headlining.”

Adele will join the previously confirmed headliners Muse and Coldplay, both of which also announced their headline slots themselves – although Adele is the first to ever break the news while onstage.

The news of Adele headlining Glastonbury will not come as surprise to many, as the mega-successful singer has been the subject of heavy rumours for some months – and even came out on top of our readers’ poll on who should headline Glastonbury.

After Adele broke the news, Glastonbury organiser Emily Eavis swiftly confirmed it on Twitter – saying it was an ‘honour’ to have Adele playing the festival:

The full line-up for Glastonbury 2016 is expected in the next couple of weeks – prior to the ticket resale in April. So far, as well as the headliners, PJ Harvey and Jeff Lynne’s ELO are also confirmed to be performing at this years festival.
